INGREDIENTS

  • FOR THE COOKIES
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 2 sticks butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • FOR THE ICING
  • 1 egg white
  • powdered sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. MAKE THE COOKIES
  2. Place flour and sugar in a bowl. Cut butter in cubes and add to the flour mixture. Add egg yolk.
  3. Mix all ingredients and knead until they come together to a smooth dough.
  4. Place in the refrigerator for at least an hour, up to 3 days.
  5. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough and cut out cookies. Place on a cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for about 15 mins or until the edges of the cookies turn just slightly golden.
  8. MAKE THE ICING
  9. Mix half of the egg white with about 1 cup of powdered sugar (or more) to a thick paste.
  10. Place paste in piping bag with a decorating tip #1 or #2 attached and follow these icing instructions.
